"I recently passed my ADI Part 3 under the tutelage of Lynne Von Wildenrath, I cannot speak more highly of her support, guidance, expertise, generosity in giving up her time and all round personal investment in me.

Having decided to embark on a new vocation in becoming a Driving Instructor I can't believe how lucky I was to find Lynne.

Anybody seeking the same path as me and wanting to become what is such a rewarding and enjoyable role, could not be in better or safer hands. Lynne is so passionate about the profession and Prime as a Driving School, with the fantastic support of Paul, are true experts in this field and I feel privileged and proud to now be a part of the team and to be able to call myself a Prime Driving School instructor."

There are we are sure many reasons as to why you have downloaded this report, but the one thing I am guessing for sure is, you need a change of job/career.

If this is in any way resonates with you, read on...

Understanding The Process

Quite simply the best place to go to start your research regarding becoming a driving instructor is to go to the government website and read and follow the links therein. The government website is full of valuable information that is well presented and simple to follow. Start by clicking the links below and go to the government website.

BECOME A DRIVNG INSTRUCTOR

As mentioned earlier the Government website recommends that you must find an ORDIT registered trainer (Official Register Of Driving Instructor Training)

Why? because ORDIT is a recognised level of training standard as set by the DVSA (Driving And Vehicle Standards Agency) These are the best driving instructor trainers available and it is an official DVSA register which legitimises the qualification for you as you contemplate choosing a driving instructor trainer.

You can find out more on ORDIT qualification by clicking this link below. Our advice is only choose an ORDIT registered trainer. After all this is your career we are talking about. You need the best trainer possible. A mistake on your training and your choice of trainer/coach will not only be costly, but you may never qualify as a driving instructor and your income and family may suffer in the long term.

We have found some of the larger schools have ORDIT premises registered, but the trainer provided may not be ORDIT registered and sometimes not even a grade A instructor. So, if your trainer isn't ORDIT registered you may get substandard training. as we like to say "If they're not there, go elsewhere"

"If They're Not There Go Elsewhere"

Why the Government is recommending that you find an ORDIT registered trainer.

The DVSA (Driving And Vehicle Standards Agency) run the ORDIT register and will only allow the very best ADI’s (Approved Driving Instructors) to train to become ORDIT registered.

Those driving instructors who wish to become ORDIT registered must firstly:

Be an ADI

Be an A grade instructor – As tested by the DVSA

Pass a further exam to demonstrate and assess their training skills.

You can read what is involved when a grade A driving instructor wants to become an ORDIT registered driving instructor trainer and get an understanding of how much work is involved for ORDIT, and our trainers have achieved this standard.

Follow the link here TO read about ORDIT on the government website

The guide to becoming an ORDIT registered trainer of driving instructors

We reiterate, be careful, check your trainer is on the ORDIT register. We have found on occasion some people have been told that their trainer is ORDIT registered and they simply are not. Check the register, it's free and simple.

"If They're Not There Go Elsewhere"

Whoever you choose for your training, whether it's Prime Driving School or not, please do insist that your trainer is ORDIT registered . You now know what to do and remember... 'If they're not there go elsewhere'

How not to choose the best training establishment

We do not like to be negative, however we felt that you need to be aware that some training establishments will have a salesman call you after you make an enquiry on their website. And call you many many times with their sales pitch until you succumb to the pressure to get your credit card out.

Those training establishments will in all probability ask you to pay your training fee over the phone after sending you a glossy brochure and then you will be able to attend a 5 day residential course to learn to be a driving instructor. After that you will need to teach yourself with an on-line course. They may have a trainer local to you, they may not!

Also most of the larger driving school's will inform you that you will have a brand new car for you to teach in as soon as you are ready to teach pupils on a 'trainee licence'. PDI (Pending Driving Instructor)

This sounds very nice, a brand new car, but at what cost to you. When you add up your weekly franchise fee, and your car lease fee, you could be paying these establishments as much as £300 a week or more. Shocking!

If you are off work for a week or 2 with a small illness, that could be catastrophic financially as you still need to pay them their weekly £300 fee. Some of these schools made their instructors pay franchise and car lease fees during lockdown even though they had no income at all.

READ ARTICLE

One of our trainees who parted company with a particular national driving school was told his trainer had left the area to become an examiner once the trainee had paid them thousands of pounds to be trained to become a driving instructor.

There is an old saying "Buyer Beware!"

Now, not all driving schools are run this way, many are superb with good quality ORDIT trainers, simply be careful and do your due diligence when selecting the driving school who will carry out your training to become a driving instructor. A well known name and brand doesn't mean anything if they are not performing for you.

How to Choose A Training Establishment

Prime Driving School as team, are of the opinion that online training can be helpful in some circumstances, but being a driving instructor is a people business. You will be interacting everyday with different people, cultures, personalities and genders and you must be trained to get the necessary experience and enjoy working and training all types of people.

Zoom training or online courses go so far, but in our opinion without one to one personal training you cannot become be the best driving instructor that you can be. And that would be a tragedy.

Prime Driving School organise and run every Saturday, free morning interactive classroom sessions at our Chichester training centre for our trainees to attend.

They are free for the Prime Driving School team to come along to and they can attend as many or as few sessions as they want. Many of our ADI's who have been qualified for many years still attend these free to attend training sessions to add to their skill set and their attendance is recorded as part of their CPD 'Continued Personal Development', something else that the DVSA insists upon.

The added benefit for our trainee driving instructors is that they get to interact and question seasoned driving instructors at these free weekly Saturday training sessions. They make new friends and share their experiences.

The video at the top of the report demonstrates a typical Saturday training sessions hosted by our ORDIT registered trainer Lynne.

"I trained to be a driving instructor with Lynne from Prime Driving School ten years ago. Lynne made the learning fun and I thought, 'I can do this!' I had one to one training from my theory test to to my final qualifying exam, which I passed first time, and it was all down to Lynnes's amazing professional instruction and guidance.

Two years ago I followed Lynne down to Prime Driving School in Chichester and the training doesn't stop. The school continues to give ongoing personal development and when I do not have a lesson I tend to sit in on classroom training sessions.

If you want a change of career and it doesn't matter where you live come and meet Lynne and Prime Driving School."

The benefits over training with a coach who will teach you one to one

Our ORDIT trainers will be also be teaching you one to one in either your car or one of our training cars. The interaction is crucial. This is where you learn the detail of teaching and it's all one to one, no one else but you and your ORDIT trainer. We will help you with your communication skills if this is a weakness for you. Or we may need to guide you on how to tone down your communication skills with your pupils. This can only be done one to one and not on an online training course or a zoom call.

When you are on a trainee licence and you are teaching real pupils, our ORDIT trainer will travel to the area, no matter where that is, to observe, give feedback and coach you on your teaching style with the goal of getting you ready for your final part 3 qualifying test.

Whichever driving school/training establishment you choose for your training, insist that the school provides you with an ORDIT registered trainer for your driving instructor training. Some schools may tell you that they have an ORDIT registered trainer in your area. That's great but remember...

Simply ask for the ORDIT trainer's name and post code and see if he or she exists on the ORDIT register.

At Prime Driving School we identify our best, most ambitious instructors and we are currently training them to join the ORDIT register. Occasionally during your training journey with Prime Driving School, you will go on a training session with one of our trainee ORDIT instructors. The difference with Prime is that a debrief on every training session with our ORDIT registered trainers is carried out after every training session.

Also our ORDIT trainer will sit in on training sessions. When this happens you have two trainers sitting in with you. This all means that you have our utmost attention for your training and we are producing more ORDIT registered trainers to add to the register which has the added benefit of Prime Driving School producing to the public, better trained driving instructors, who teach our new drivers to a higher standard which makes our roads safer and keep our loved ones safer on our roads.

We have had many driving instructors who have joined us after regretting signing up with some national schools. As trainees, they left those establishments after feeling let down, untrained and unsupported by the school and or their allocated trainer. They joined Prime Driving School and then subsequently qualified and became ADI's because they had the correct, detailed and comprehensive training that they needed with Prime Driving School. These superb driving instructors regretted paying some of these establishments as the salesman soon disappeared once they had paid them £1000’s in fees and the salesman has got his commission.

Once the salesman is no longer available, they are then handed over to customer services, Most times, they discover there was not a trainer local to them at all, or the allocated trainer required was not available. They were told, to read their training books and a road is a road and simply practice and get experience..

The Benefits of training with an ORDIT registered trainer and School

It all starts with teaching our driving instructors to the highest level by coaching them and maybe you in the correct manor and with the correct style.

We coach you towards the discipline needed to be successful in all areas relating to being a driving instructor, we will be guiding you on many matters from, insurance requirements to getting you up to date and compliant with current data protection legislation. We help you with record keeping and getting you ready to submit your yearly tax returns and so much, much more. Would you learn this on a 5 day residential course elsewhere I wonder?

“Lynne is one of the most knowledgeable and inspiring trainers that I have had the pleasure to work with. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to people who want to train as a driving instructor to the highest standard.”

– James from London

Instructional Language

The correct communication phrases to express to your pupils whilst on a driving lesson, so that they fully understand the meaning you intend putting over whilst instructing is vital for the safety of your pupil, the public, other road users and of course yourself.

Just think about it this way, you wouldn’t say to a pupil “Shoot down that road ”. No of course not! Why? It could have many potentially different interpretations and meanings to different pupils.

You may be asking your pupil to simply drive down a specific road, that’s all. But each of our minds interprets language totally differently.

One student might think there is a bunch of farmers all having a day with shot guns down the road. Someone else might think you want them to drive fast down the road you have just instructed them to go down. It’s obvious when you know and we teach you to know!

This is a simplistic example but an important point to demonstrate. A car in the control of the wrong hands, or a poorly trained driving instructor, can be a dangerous machine indeed.

At Prime Driving School you will be taught the correct instructional language to communicate to your pupil at the correct time and in the correct manner.

There is more once you have qualified, we have a program of ‘Continued Personal Development’ in place to help you grow as a self-employed driving instructor. You coaching doesn’t stop once you’re qualified at Prime Driving School.

You keep all the lesson fees

That’s right, you keep all the lesson fees. Want to know more?

There are many aspects to teaching you to become a driving instructor and we know what it takes, because we currently have a 95% pass rate for our driving instructors that have fully committed to training with Prime Driving School. That’s right, no one to date who has fully committed to their training has failed Part 3 final qualifying driving instructor exam with Prime Driving School whilst on a trainee-licence.

Why is this? Because the trainee-driving instructor gets the required, detailed training and the teaching experience whilst learning and your Grade (A) ORDIT registered trainer will also sit in on your Part 3 final qualifying test should you desire, giving you feedback later. What other driving school does that?

Because our high standards are being recognised, by the public as well as the industry, we have more pupils contacting us daily and we just can’t fulfil those lesson requests and that is frustrating which explains why we are recruiting new driving instructors now.

“Lynne trained me as a Driving Instructor 13 years ago! and to the highest standard. Lynne is so professional and still after 13 years if I need an answer to any question I still go to her!”

– Jacquie from Croydon

Earning Whilst You Are Learning

We need top quality driving instructors to join our team and we are training a select amount of trainees with a guarantee of a franchise where you will be earning a good income whilst you are being coached all the skills needed to become a high standard driving instructor with Prime Driving School.

That sounds too good to be true, right? There is more, with only a small deposit, you can be paying for your training whilst teaching, which means your pupils will be paying for your training. We have thought long and hard about this, we have done the research, we have crunched the numbers and we are for a very short time recruiting for new trainee-driving instructors and offering training to join us coaching the next generation to drive safely with just a small initial deposit fee.

"Thank you so much Lynne for your guidance and support. Can’t believe I am now a fully qualified driving instructor. Could not have done it without you!"
